Alamogordo, New Mexico

An Amazing train museum...made up of wonderful , still functioning toy trains!!
And the 70 year young fellows working there are as happy and enthusiastic about making them run now, as they were as kids.

A few four legged critters we saw that day

This "belle" was accompanied by a less friendly looking black bull..
He didn't offer to pose, so I didn't take his picture..
They were wandering around, free, on the observatory grounds.

This is a few of the flock of wild turkeys we spied.. You must look closely
to NOT confuse them with the trees stumps!!

Here, I zoomed in for a better look!

Then just after we left the turkeys to their business a
deer ran across in front of us, and hid nicely in the shadows of the trees,
It was difficult getting a picture of him, but I did manage!!
Can you see him?? Straight back BETWEEN the two cut off stumps.
If you click on the picture to make it bigger, you'll see him right away.
As we drove off two more bounded into the forest, but I was too slow to get the three of them;
they quiclky dissappeared.

Sacramento Peak Observatory

The John W. Evans Solar Facility,
Named in honor of the first director(1952-1975) of the
Sacramento Peak Observatory ,
who transformed a remote mountain-top observatory into a
world-renowned center for solar astronomy.

As you can see a good deal of this telescope is underground!!

It's very impressive. Too much for me to explain...
but very impressive!!

Oaks and Aspens

I have MANY pictures of the New Mexico fall colors, too..
I'll try not to bore you...
What we saw mostly on our trip to Cloudcroft were the yellow and browns of the oaks and aspens!
