A few shots of Morocco from the air!

As I looked out the window as my flight headed for Casablanca,
I thought the same thing I've thought everytime I look down from the air on the Moroccan countryside," it'd make a lovely patch work picture quilt!"
With it's ocean and beaches, mountains and valleys, hillside villages, modern cites,
and the countryside cut into farming lands of all possible shapes, sizes and colors.
Flying from Agadir to Casablanca, (a 40 minute flight) we cut vertically across the country..on one side of the plane is the Atlantic coast and across the isle, the Great Atlas Mountains.
It's on landing at the Mohamed V, airport , that all the farm land becomes really visible, and my Meghreb quilt appears!
I wasn't next to a window this time, and it was hard getting the pics I wanted..
But what I do have will give you an idea. (my pics have the dates still on them, I need to find out how to hide it)
I have a dear friend who left on a direct flight Agadir -Paris, a few days after Easter..
I'm including some of her pictures, too, as their flight plan gave them a teriffic view of the Agadir bay, harbors and the coastline...I'm sure she was next to the window , too!! hmm! :-)
Merci, "Cri Cri"!
Agadir's Bay ( the armpit of the coastline) with the harbors to the NW, and long coastline, heading S.

A close up of Agadir's two harbors.

The White caps on the ocean are proof it was a windy day.

Agadir's beautiful long coastline, her extending city quarters and neighboring towns.

Land and sea and puffy white clouds!!

The Atlas summits seen from a distance.

The great Atlas mountain range, covered with snow!

Rural, winding mountain roads, and century old argan tree forests!

Diverse sizes of rectangles , squares, and unknown geometrical forms.

The green and brown patches of planted and barren fields that make up my Moroccan quilt!
Why not come see it for yourselves!!!

Pictures : April, 2009

A few days before Easter we took a nice relaxing trip to Timoulay,

to our mountain hide away....

with Tammy and Mehdi

....... and Mimmo .
As usual I'm behind the camera!!

The afternoon sun shinning through the carob trees.

Oranges and fava beans from the garden.

A glimpse of one of the stone walls that separate the terraces.

Doors with colored glass windows leading to the patio.

Too pretty not to photograph.

Tiny, pink, sweet smelling tea roses.

Hundreds of them in bloom.

Multi-colored roses on the same bush...

Rambling roses and fava beans.

Timoulay in bathed in Spring colors and sunshine:
the vibrant tones of new barley, mingled with the silvery, blooming olive trees is pure beauty!

A few pictures of our small but very homey little Catholic church, Saint Anne's.

The altar and table at Saint Anne's , ready for the Holy Thusday service.

Mary's beautiful flower arrangements.

Our Holy Thursday table.

TSaint Anne's altar, decorated for Easter Eve and Sunday morning services.

The poster "Caritas Agadir", represents the 2,115+ kilos of foodstuff that the parishoners

and visiting tourists collected for the church's charities(country school canteens and orphanges, in Agadir and Taroudannt), during Lent.

The choir in front of the altar, after mass.

Augustin, who was baptized in Saturday's Easter Eve service, is here in his white djalaba and hood, with his sisters, brother and cousins , after mass.

Augustin's baptism.

HAPPY EASTER.... JOYEUSES PÂQUES!!!

A most beautiful, blessed Easter Day and Spring to you all!

"Thine is the glory, risen, conquering son" The lyrics are still singing loud and joyfully in my head from last night's mass....we sang this Easter hymn in French and English, to my delight!
Took me back many years to when I sang it as a child at home, in Indiana.
Since then I've gone through many different levels of reflexions concerning Easter; Christ's death and ressurection.....I think what touches me the most is the suffering ...how much he suffered..how much he continues to suffer in our world today... how mankind continues to crucify "Jesus our brother", and each other daily..
How we as a world...as humanity have not yet understood how to love one another as we are Loved....
Easter gives us hope, the knowledge that death no longer has the last word, and that's wonderful , even though it's a fact I accept on faith, because it's really hard to explain....
but, I wish we'd have learned better how to put into action the message of LOVE for which Jesus was willing to die.
This last two weeks have been full , but good. I've of course taken many pictures of which I'll be posting a few to share with you...HOPEFULLY today some time...
In the meantime...lots of love, and HAPPY EASTER!!
