Traditional bee hives

Up and around one more hill and curb ...

We find another typical stone fence ...

And behind it a field of bee hives!
We walked softly and quietly so we wouldn't disturb them!!

A bit further down the road, more bee hives; these are
hand woven, cylindric, reed baskets!

Prickly pears

Prickly pears just hanging on the cactus plants ....

Ripe and tempting to pick and eat ......

But unless you know how to pick them and clean them...
It's best to just buy them in town, ready to eat,
Because .....

There's a reason they're called "prickly pears"

They are FULL of "pricklies!"

Argan nuts

Big, ripe, yellow argan nuts where, hidden within the nut, lies the
tiny membrane with which the precious red-golden oil is made.

The goats love these nuts, and climb up into the trees to eat them!

Tagadirt

Autumn has arrived in Agadir.
Lovely clear, turquoise blue skies, cooler air and wonderful sunshine.
It's the perfect combination for getting out and hiking a bit.
The best time to go is the morning, because by afternoon
the sun and air are much hotter.
Yesterday with four friends: Laurence, Aimée, Jeanne and Layla
we headed out of town a dozen kilometers or so
and discovered the countryside near the village of Tagadirt!

Hats in place, water bottles in hand we're ready to go....
Of course, I need a picture first!!!

The earth is hard and full of stones...
But it's not long before the path leads us to beautiful, open countryside!!

A walk along the corniche

The new "corniche" or boardwalk is so pleasant to walk along:
colorful flowers everywhere, swaying palm trees, benches to sit and rest,
with the beauty of Agadir's bay and the Atlantic Ocean as far as the eye can see.

The sun was amazing....at that point just before it goes to sleep, where it is still strong and warm, but doesn't blind you, if you look it in the eye!!

The Kesbah, a memorial mountain, to the 1960 earthquake, courageously stands opposite us against the sky, completing the half circle of Agadir's bay.

Mr. Sun is only a few minutes away from a peaceful night's rest!

Off to the Agadir beach

It was a lovely evening Friday, a perfect time for a walk down to the beach.

Maya, also, preferred walking to riding!
Papa has such a comfortable shoulder to lean on!!

Playing beek-a-boo again!

There, I see you!!

A VERY important "rest stop"!
Get the wipes ready, Mom!!

Surprise visit

This was Maya's first visit to Grandma and Nonno Tufani's house.
After breakfast, we had a heart to heart talk!!
She was very attentive and readily joined in the conversation...

We also sang, some songs. She really liked the choo choo's train whistle
"toooooooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo oooooooooooo,
goes the merry old choo choo train!"

I explained to her that she will surely be a great talker one day,
just like her Grandma,
as it does come with her DNA package...
I'm not sure how much Mick blood she can claim, but only a little drop will do the job!!!
My Mom always said it wasn't the Hokes or the Spidels, but from the Micks, that gave us our
"talent for communicating!!
:-)

Maya said that was perfectly OK with her!!

And added that she couldn't wait to get started!!
Such a sweetheart!!
